MLS RoadMap 2011

Technical

In the past years Davanti has heavily invested in the process of restructuring the application-logic. User-interface, business logic and data access are separated layers. This has a big advantage on maintainability and responsiveness of MLS.

Functional

For 2011, in co-operation with the MLS user-group the following functional topics are addressed , to have an uplift in functionality.

Tracing inbound algorithm

The algorithm to determine the put away location of received stock is a complex algorithm, dependant on a lot of parameters. Sometimes received stock will be stored in a different locations as expected or even that no location can be found to store the received stock. The reason behind this is in almost every case configuration of products, division over areas, location configuration or a combination of these. Sometimes it is hard to determine the cause. The roadmap development is to build in a mechanism for tracing the inbound algorithm. In that way users will have a clear view what locations have been searched and the reason why a location is not suited for that inbound.

Tracing outbound algorithm

Likewise the inbound algorithm, the allocation algorithm will get a tracing mechanism. Purpose is to give an overview why stock-units are not allocated for a specific order line. The reasons for allocation the stock-units may differ: section blocked, location blocked, stock passed ultimate delivery date, BBD before last delivered BBD, etc.

Integrity check topography

The definition of the topography is very flexible in MLS. You are able to define a lot of zone’s for different purposes. Take for example the different labour areas, racks can linked to labour area’s on layer level. Question at the end is then if every location is linked to a labour area for full carrier movements and/or stock-unit movements. If this is not the case this will result in a blockage of assigning the movement to a driver or vehicle. This new tool will check for the integrity of the topography and all zones connected to is, and report the locations that are not configured properly.
